So You Say It's Your Birthday!!!

Layne's 4th! Time flies! She will be going to pre-school in a few weeks and starting soccer in the fall! Wow! The birthday preparation started the day before her birthday, Tuesday. I spent the day with the Lathrop girls. Kristin made potato salad and cleaned up. I hung out with Layne and helped with Lucy too! Layne and I made her birthday cake! She wanted a pink one. :-)Layne didn't really want to use the mixers so she stirred the cake by moving the bowl around in circles. New technique for all you cooks out there!

And of course the best part is licking every thing that has left over batter on in or in it!

Wednesday was the big day. What a party! Lucy dressed for the occasion! Love those big blue eyes!
Saylor (Layne and Lucy's cousin) grabbed Lucy as soon as she woke up. She loves babies and did a great job taking care of Lucy! Two beauties!
All the cousins were there from Justin's side of the family. What a blast. It was a warm evening and the water toys came out!

Family everywhere! Could it get any better than this! What fun! Wish the Doolittles and Katie were all here too!
OK! Best laugh of the evening. Jackson who is 4 or 5 years old was pointing the hose at Mike. Kristin had been holding the hose and kinking it. When she set it down the kink didn't come out. Someone told Kristin that the hose was still kinked and she walked over to fix it not knowing Jackson was pointing the hose right at Mike! Need I say more! I laughed so hard! Kristin said even if she knew that Jackson was holding the hose on Mike she would have un-kinked it! Mike was a great sport about the whole thing!
He did have to go get a beer to recover from the trauma!
There were a few injuries as you can imagine with all the kids running around. Bee stings and crashes on the slip and slide! Everyone recovered!
Isn't this the best sad face you have ever seen!

Meanwhile the cook (Justin) was hard at work on the BBQ!
Wanna play soccer and there is no goal? Not a problem! The center of the inner tube was the goal. Tricky for sure!

This is Izzy! One of Layne's and Lucy's cousins! Is she adorable or what?
Even blankets can become toys when kids are 5 and 2 years old!
Under construction! A new deck. Mike and I had deck envy!
Announcement! Cake and ice cream and presents! Here it is! Frosted and decorated by Layne!
First things first! The candles!

Layne found a comfy spot to listen to her mom read her the cards and then open presents. When you have a lot of cousins you have a lot of help opening those presents!

Mike and I got Layne a scooter!
Justin and Kristin got Layne a bigger bike!!! She loved it!
Someone get the helmet so I can take off!
Riding off into the sunset! Birthday number 4 was a success!
