Softball Catcher

So here I am again. Reliving something I experienced with my own girls. All of them were softball players and played at a high level. Kristin was a catcher and a great one if I do say so myself. Here is her daughter, Layne, doing the same thing. The equipment is way big for her and she isn't quite sure about this whole catching thing.

Lots of adjusting of that equipment needed.
Here she is ready to go. She could hardly move in this stuff but we were all excited to watch her do what her mom used to do!

Loving this t-ball with Layne. In a flash little Lucy will be playing too! Precious times!

The Doolitle Non-Scramble

The Doolittle Scramble was a non-scramble for Team Gleason. It is quite fitting that the first few pictures I took are very blurry. It is just how the whole morning went. So the Doolittle Scramble! Gotta get up early and get ready! We have to be at church early to usher and then I can leave right from church and go to the scramble. Weather isn't looking very good. Cindy decided she would go to church with us. I felt a bad that I didn't personally invite Cindy and Marianne to come to church before the scramble! What was I thinking? Shelly was already there. Anyway, I am waiting in the front of the house in my car for Cindy to drive up and follow me to church. She was only a couple of minutes late but I called her and she was just about to my house. Mike had already left to usher so were covered. Church starts at 10:15 and we would be there by 10:00. I could get a little ushering in. As we drove up I thought it was pretty crowded in the parking lot for a 10:15 service. The schedule had just changed for the summer. AHHHH! I had the time wrong. It started at 10:00. They had grabbed someone to usher for us thankfully! We found Mike and sat down. About 1/2 way through the service I thought OH NO. I forgot my golf shoes. Cindy and I crawled out of the pew and went to retrieve them at my house. Cindy really needs to come to church another time when we get there before it starts and we stay through the whole service! :-) Anyway, we walk out of church and the rain was coming down!!! What do we do? We got my shoes and then headed to the golf course. We met up with Marianne in the parking lot. None of us really wanted to golf. Everyone else in the scramble was still golfing.
Really? Are they all nuts? I pulled the... I am over 50 and I don't have to do anything I don't want to do... card! We were missing Shelly and so we decided we would wait for her to make the final decision. We looked and looked for her. No Shelly. I called her cell and it was Joe on the message. I guess I don't have the right cell number. What now? I called her hubby and asked if she had decided to leave because of the rain. No she is at Hangman waiting! The scramble is at Indian Canyon. Shelly had gone to the wrong course. Jim, her husband, said he would get in touch with her. Cindy, Marianne and I decided not to golf and to make lemonade out of lemons. We were going out to lunch. Great idea. The pictures below show the frustration we felt when we drove up to the place we decided to go eat and it was closed. Blurry and all! Let us in!!!!

So we drove north to the Onion! Good food there. Cindy got her bison burger and it was raw. R A W! She sent it back and asked for chips to munch on while she waited for a new burger. They were so stale!!!! We were still smiling though! We enjoyed our lunch and the time together and laughed about the morning! This golf tournament wasn't meant to be for us.
I headed back to the golf course to watch the teams finish. It did stop raining half way through the scramble and everyone had a great time! I personally do not regret my decision not to golf one bit! I was nice and comfy and dry waiting in the clubhouse. This golf course is absolutely gorgeous!

Keri got a cake to celebrate Father's Day!!!
Look at this group of lovely people!
Megan and Katie in the matching shirts! Beauties as always. Love these girls!
Dawn and Dave survived the rain and their first tournament as a married couple. :-)
Aunt Katie grabbed Easton and would not let anyone have him. She was the favorite Aunt at this point because she had cake!
Does he look like he has had a little too much cake?
Ryland was also part of the after golf festivities!

Mike showed up after the golf too!
Katie won the longest drive. She was a driving fool at the scramble from what I hear! Congrats to Katie!
And who were the big winners this year? Mark got to keep that visor in his hand because team Doolittle took back their crown this year.
Congratulations to Team Doolittle and Team Gleason will be back next year (if it isn't pouring rain)!

Motorcycle Ride

Saturday was the much anticipated Windermere motorcycle ride. It was a fundraiser for the "Y" on the north side of town. The ride was put on by Mike's work. There were 55 motorcycles and 75 riders. I always look around to see how many women are riding their own motorcycle. It think there were 4 of us! Dan organized all of this and he did a great job! Great day. Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee for the riders before we got started. YUM!
Mike and Jackie ready to blast off! Next to my lovely motorcycle!
Of course the conversation is all about motorcycles as we wander around the parking lot looking at bikes. What kind, how much, how long...with each motorcycle comes a story! It is fun to swap stories. I love telling everyone I got my motorcycle before Mike got his! hehe!

These are some of the volunteers that helped get the ride going. It was a poker run. 4 stops and you get a card and each stop. Whoever gets the best hand wins a prize. I have no idea how to play poker and I lost my sheet that had my cards on it. Didn't win!
Final instructions for Dan! Off we go. All in a huge group. I got separated from Mike in the first mile. He didn't turn where we were supposed to and took a group with him a bit out of the way. I turned and went with about 7 other bikers to the first destination.
Snapped this picture of Easy Rider taking off after our first stop. I kind of pushed the issue to leave the first stop quickly. I told Mike...I just wanna ride! I just wanna ride! Just like John Travolta in Wild Hogs...I just wanted to ride!
Next stop picture. We rode along Lake Coeur d alene for a while. Beautiful.

This was a stop in Rockford! Nice little bar and grill! On these rides you don't stay together. Too many motorcycles for that. So you just take off and whoever is with you is your group for that leg. We got with the speed demons going to this stop! I didn't know exactly how to get to this place so I felt the need to stay close. I did. I actually like the speed but it makes me nervous to go 10 miles over the speed limit because I don't want a ticket! Mike and I hung back a bit so we could see the sights but kept the demons in our view so we wouldn't lose our way.

One more leg and then to the "Y" for some BBQ! Mike and I took off with a group but Mike pulled over just a mile after we started out. So did another biker. To stop or not to stop! NOT. I kept going and rode with the rest of the bikers to the YMCA. Turns out Dean thought he left his cell phone at the bar so he pulled over and then Mike did too. He had his cell phone so they started out again and weren't too far behind us. So here it is! Yum yum! The BBQ!

Love the hair flip!

Motorcycle games. I should have done this one but I didn't want to be the only girl. Can you believe I wimped out like that! Not like me normally. Mike is on the far right and the game is to go as slow as you can and not put your feet down. Last one to the finish line wins!
Good try Mike! He didn't make it all the way without putting his foot down!
Then there was toss the bean bag into the bucket. The driver also had to go slow in this one!
The Winners!
We were blessed with great weather and if you live in Spokane you know that we have had way too much rain lately. No rain and in the 70's. Can't wait until next year. This was a great ride.
