Bead Lake on the 4th

Look at this beautiful lake! Gorgeous! Kristin and Justin invited us to spend the 4th with Justin's family at Bead Lake. A beautiful lake tucked back in the mountains with crystal clear water and peaceful surroundings. After church we gathered up some things and headed to the lake. AHHHH!
Our driver picked us up in the water chariot and chauffeured us to the cove that hides the family cabin!
We had a tour of the lake on the way to the cove!

Mike was lovin' it! He is in his element when he is out in God's creation! Relaxed and happy! This picture makes me smile!
I will be more relaxed when I get off the boat. For some reason I have never really relished the moments I have spent on a boat. I just think riding in a boat is a weird feeling. I like the water...I can't explain it!
The chariot was docked and there was Layne with all the dogs. There were about 6 dogs. All belonging to different family members.
Maggie wanted to fetch right away! Throw Jackie throw it!
Lucy was cruising around the shore with her life jacket on. That is a requirement for the kids if they are down at the beach. Good idea!
Crawdad traps! Kristin, Brevan and Lucy were baiting the trap! I am not exactly sure why someone would actually want to catch one of those creatures that live in dark, murky places but the kids love it!
Lucy was giving Ryker (her cousin) some treats. We were surrounded by beautiful little people! So many precious kids all getting along and enjoying the outdoors!
Lucy acquired an Oreo. This is the first thing she did with it. She squatted down and began figuring out how to take the cookie apart. Is that an instinct we all have? Breaking an Oreo cookie apart? Seems to be because she is only a year old and probably hasn't had many Oreos yet the first chore was to split it apart!
Success! Got to that frosting. Instinct? Pretty sure it is!
If you need to use the facilities there is a fabulously decorated outhouse for you!
Brevan and Jackson are after those crawdads again!
I asked them what they would do with a crawdad if they caught one. Eat it! Really? Have you boys seen where those critters live?
I think they look like a couple of dudes in this picture. Just chillin' waiting for a bite!
While the boys hunted crawdads Lucy (yes there is a dog in the family named Lucy) was hunting the hot dog pieces the boys discarded. Lucy isn't a dog that would jump right in after the pieces so she had to figure out how to get them without getting wet. She used the strategy called patience. Wait! Wait! It is getting closer, closer! AHHH! Here it is! Chomp!
Cheese!
Kristin and Jackie!
Part of the Kilgore/Lathrop family relaxing!
Grandpa Mike has precious cargo here!
I was lucky enough to be allowed to french braid all the girl's hair. Then after the braiding it was time to get fitted for the 4th of July ribbons, headbands and necklaces. As you can see by the mom's faces in the back this is serious business! So patriotic!
Layne is helping? with Ryker!
Julie and Jeff! Our hosts! Thanks for letting us share the day with you!
Kristin and Brandee. Brandee is Kristin's sister -in-law. Long before they were sister-in-laws they were good friends. Funny how things work out!
Justin and his brother!
Saylor is all ready to go watch fireworks. Wow!
Back at the crawdad hunting.
I asked Layne what she was doing here and she said that she was watching for crawdads. She had a trap in the water and was very intently watching to see if it moved at all! There is a technique you know. You have to keep your foot on the rope and not let it slip in the water. She wanted to trap a crawdad!!!! Notice the foot on the rope! Good job Layne!
The kitchen help!
Have you even seen so many beautiful children! What precious gifts we are blessed with in this little ones.
Still at the hunting!
Dinnertime! Jeff was cranking up the BBQ!
Lucy is so cool!
Here is the other Lucy all tuckered out! It is hard to be so small and keep up with all the kids and the big dogs!
The crawdad hunting has ended! For today!
Girls!
My precious Mike!
Gracie and Layne taking a spin before dinner. Can you imagine just how much fun these two girls are having right now? What a great place to hang out with your cousins!
Burgers, hot dogs and...
Corn on the cob!

These girls are in the 4th of July spirit!

Kristin says I always get pictures of her eating. There is some truth to that. I was thing about why??? Why do I always get pictures of her eating. It think it is because it is the only time she lands long enough for me to take one. The rest of the time she is chasing after 2 little girls.

Lucy found a blue cupcake! Check out the hands!
After dinner it was time to search for hats and other belongings so everyone could take off for the firework show.
Kristin doing her mom thing packing up for the girls.
Mike and Justin got into some mischief. Can't take those two anywhere! I am not sure whose pacifier that is in the dogs mouth but GROSS! Really boys?
He looks innocent but he is NOT!
Lucy and her daddy!
Cute!
Two dogs hiding in the bushes!
Here we go piling in the boat to get back to the cars. No road to the cabin. You can only get to the cabin by traveling over the water. The kids and their parents were heading to the firework show nearby and Mike and I were heading home!
Miss 4th of July!
Sweet smile!

After a short boat ride we went our separate ways. What a lovely, lovely day. A relaxing, priceless time with fabulous family! Thanks for allowing us to share the day with you! We loved every minute of it!
