What a beautiful day! 80 degrees. We all got ready and headed to downtown Denver for the Mile High Dribble event. A free 5 block basketball dribble for kids. A new t-shirt and basketball for all of the kids. The women's final four was in Denver and this was an event to promote that!
The start line was right in front of the court house!
After the kids got their shirts we had to wait a while for the starting gun! There was a band and lots of dancing! So much energy!
These kids have some great moves.
Here is some video of the dance party going on while we waited for the Mile High Dribble!
I guess the sun was a bit too bright to look into even if it was picture time.
Tried a different angle!
Here we go...in the shade!
Added the grandma! Me!
The boys!
Is this cute or what!
Ryland is a lover... just had to give the mascot a hug!
More dancing! I see where the boys get their moves. From Keri!
Almost time to head out!
This is the dangerous lets jump over Layne's head game. No injuries thankfully!
Pure joy!
Wow did they have some fancy jump roping! Layne loves to jump rope. The jumpers were amazing but I was too short to get good pictures. For some reason no one would put me on their shoulders. I can't imagine what they were thinking.
Here is a stick the camera in the air and hope for the best picture of the jumpers.
Heading to the start line. As usual Katie was the cheerleader. So much spirit that girl has!
Kristin, Layne, and Lucy
Here we go dribble away!
Even Lucy got the hang of dribbling!
She decided here it was time for a little rest.
Easton was a star dribbler too!
Katie was keeping the spirits high!
Crossing the finish line!
The finishers. Lucy was more interested in the drummers than the picture!
The Dribble ended at an expo with lots of fun things for the kids to do! What a fun event!
After the expo we drove to Coors baseball field and had lunch. Lucy was watching her shadow the whole time we walked to the restaurant. You just sort of forget all the little things that were so fascinating as a child. Shadows and don't step on a crack were two things the kids kept having fun with! Why do we lose that wonder? I don't think we have to! I kept thinking of Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” Perhaps we need to listen to this verse! Certainly would change our lives!
AHHH beautiful!
Katie the sun worshipper!
While we waited for our food Keri had an imaginary baseball game for the kids
They ran and ran around the bases! No ball or bat just their imagination!
Back at the table Keri and Katie posed for the camera!
Yummy food.
What a shot! Baseball and family.
After naps or attempted naps we headed to a park for a photo shoot. Keri took pictures of the kids! They did great posing for the camera. I will post pictures in another blog post!
We stumbled on some people walking their horses? Yes, we did!
Such tiny little horses. The photo shoot wrapped up the day. Off to Keri's for some R and R!
