Turkey Trot 09

Well, I am sitting at my computer after a big Thanksgiving dinner and two pieces of pumpkin pie. I know one thing. I did not trot enough in the Turkey Trot today to work off all I ate. Should have gone around the course at least two more times! Maybe next year. So I think the Turkey Trot is officially and Thanksgiving tradition for Cheryl and I. This is number two for us together. Couldn't think of a better person to spend Thanksgiving morning with!
The Turkey Trot includes a food drive for the local food bank!
This year there were a lot more people than last! It was warmer this year. About 35 degrees. Last year we had toe warmers in our shoes and hand warmers in our gloves! I think we sat in the car until the last minute last year but not this year! We were out with the crowds.
Not as many costumes to view this year! This turkey was about all we saw!
The route is up on the South Hill in Spokane. Beautiful scenery and beautiful homes!Trotters head of us, behind us and across from us!
Almost done.
There were drawings for prizes after the race. We assumed you had to buy raffle tickets since they were yelling out numbers. We must have missed the memo before the race started because we had no tickets! And we got no prizes!
People were hanging around to see what they won!

But we headed over the river and through the woods to make it home for some turkey and pumpkin pie!
Screeech! Starbucks. Coffee is a must after a long walk in the park. Lots of people had the same idea!
We were fueled for the rest of the day!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am so thankful for my friend Cheryl and my family. I miss my mom way too much but I am thankful she is in heaven with her Lord. Maybe she had Thanksgiving dinner with Mike's dad, Jack. I hope so!

Visting the Girls

I was going through Layne and Lucy withdrawals so after school on Tuesday I headed up to see them. I get so anxious the closer I get to their house. When Layne was born and I went up to visit her and the family I can remember how I felt when I turned off onto their road. So excited and I still do! I hope that feeling never goes away!!! All the grand kids are so precious. I had a little time with Lucy by herself because Layne was still taking a nap.

I think all the grand kids probably wonder why every time they look at me they see a big flash! Smile!
Layne finally woke up with some nudging! Here she is greeting her sister!
The Candy Land game came out immediately! Layne got all the cards organized.
Then it was down to business. Serious stuff!
During a break in the Candy Land action I tried to get a picture of Lucy and Layne together! Made me appreciate the pictures Keri takes. It was hard to get them both looking at the camera at the same time!
Can you tell who won the Candy Land game? WooHoo!
Layne and I played in her bedroom for a while. She likes to turn the lights off so we experimented taking pictures in the dark. Not bad with the flash!
Her new Mrs. Santa dress! Tis the season!
I couldn't believe that anyone in my family had cats. But they do! We are all allergic to cats. These cats are barn cats and don't come inside. Layne named them Petri and something else. Can't remember the other name!Another fun day with "The Girls!" Time goes so fast and they are growing up way to fast. Lucy is crawling and Layne had homework. Wow!

Jingle Bell Run 2009 Spokane, WA

BRRRR! A cold wintery morning in Spokane and what were the plans? To participate in the Jingle Bell run/walk. I had to get up and get going and prepare for the cold weather. I had friends to meet! We all made it and grumbled a little about the cold, windy weather but we had a great time!!! Here is the Jingle Bell gang!
Hmmm! There is a note on the Santa's chair! Wonder what it says???
Too late! We already sat in it! Technically only Wes sat in it! So I guess he was the only criminal!
Here we go out into the cold! All smiles!

I think I see a dog just like this in my future! Isn't he cute! There were little dogs like this all over. Cindy said it was a sign!
Off we go! Tami, Deanna, and Wes ran. Cindy, Cheryl and I walked!
Mr. and Mrs. Santa were there to cheer us on!
It was around freezing and the wind was blowing. One chilly morning. Shorts??? Really????
The world's biggest wagon! If we could have found someone to pull it we could have done the Jingle Bell Run/Walk in the wagon.
Spokane is such a beautiful city. We are right downtown here!

Cindy and Cheryl look like they are having fun don't they?
The Spokane River runs right through downtown Spokane! Beautiful!
We were a little speechless when we saw this costume! What is it! We were behind it and trying to figure out what it was. HMMM! OHHHHH! A turkey baster!
Here is some blurry stuffing!
A snowman and tree!
Strollin' through Spokane!

Gonzaga University.
Geese possibly from Canada!
The family dogs were invited to this event. This little guy must have gotten tired!
Mr. Butterball didn't look very happy. Cindy said his wife the turkey must have made him dress up!
Done!
The girls sprinting across the finish line! Still happy!
Posing with the world famous Bloomsday runners!
Deanna is a really, really, good runner and she still hangs out with us. Thanks Deanna. Probably because she has time to shop while she is waiting for us to finish. We were kind of hoping she would be there at the finish line cheering for us but no! Shopping.
Deanna even got a ribbon. Nice job!
After the race, run, or walk we headed to my house for some breakfast. Of course we had to stop at Starbucks for coffee.
This was some fancy Christmas drink. Peppermint mocha something. YUM! Worth every calorie!
Everyone contributed to the cooking. Even me! :-)
Pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and cinnamon rolls. Just something Cheryl and I do because we can!

It feels good to blog again. Seems like it has been a while. What a fun way to start the weekend. I am thankful for my good friends and the sense of adventure they have! Not everyone would brave the cold early on a Sat. morning to take a 3 mile trek through downtown Spokane! Thanks everyone for the company and good time!
