And so it begins! Another Bloomsday. Patti's 3rd and my 31st. Can't wait for next year when the third sister can come DD!
Here are two other sisters that were volunteers at packet pick up. I think they were having almost as much fun as we were!
The trade show is always a highlight of course. We found a booth that showed what 5 pounds of fat looked like. It also had a model of 5 pounds of muscle. The muscle was smaller and wasn't so gross! ICK.
Need some shoes? This is the place to be for sure!
Patti saw these headbands last year and didn't get one so when she saw them again she swooped them up. Two of them. Kenyans win every year!
My annual sock purchase. Love these socks!
Patti got a Christmas ornament that says Spokane because she lives out of town.
Can't take anything back that I purchase! Too bad! Guess I have to keep it all!
We did get these cute skirts. Fun and girly!
Remember the turtle won!
One of our projects at home after our shopping spree was cleaning the coffee pot. It had been awhile and it wasn't working right. Mike is really the only one that uses it so we got it fixed up for him. Sort of. Coffee will taste better. We spent a lot of time just staring at the water and vinegar go through the pot. Silly but true.
Next on the agenda was Layne's soccer game. Patti got the girls Frisbees and boy were they a hit.
They could have been a tad distracting for Layne during the game!
It was a cold day. Patti and I were bundled up. Lucy took this picture.
After the game we stopped the hot spot in Deer Park for lunch.
Obviously Layne wasn't in picture taking mood!
Gotta teach these kids how to play on the phones!
Happy Lucy!
Cinco De Mayo. Kristin was nice enough to invite us for tacos. Always fun to spend time with the Deer Park gang!
Sunday morning came way too quickly. Time flies when you are having fun. We wore our new skirts and our Team Gleason t-shirts!
The Spokane River was running fast and high. Beautiful isn't it! I love Spokane.
Guess what color out numbers were!
Here is a small portion of the 50,000 people that walk or run Bloomsday.
The beach balls came out to pass the time until the start.
Love this t-shirt!
All these items are donated to a charity. There are a lot of sweatshirts etc thrown up into the trees!
Here we go again!
1 down!
The crowd stretches out for a long, long way!
I tried to take a picture backwards over my head. Nice trees wouldn't you say? Not great of all the people.
This one is a little bit better.
People as far as you can see but it doesn't seem all that crowded. It was a little tough to walk the pace we really wanted to!
This is what Bloomsday is all about. Helping each other and doing it not as a race but an event! So sweet!
Best Friends!
This was unreal! So very cool. Imagine what Jesus had to do.
Playing in the sprinklers for a little break. I love Bloomsday!
Pretty Patti
Dan the Man Mueller!
Off in the distance you can see people going up Doomsday Hill.
Wow!
We made it up the .72 mile hill in 5:55 minutes
The ever present vulture at the top of the hill waiting for those that just can't make it.
WSU waving the flag at Bloomsday
Almost done!
The finish line is in sight!
We just crossed the finish line. 7.46 miles in 1 hour 59 minutes. We were happy with the time for sure! There are a lot of people to dodge to get going at the desired pace.
Caught Freida at the finish line. She had just completed her second time through the course. She is awesome!
We are now both the proud owners of the 2012 Bloomsday Finisher t-shirts!
Last but not least was the ice cream truck. Great stop on the way to the car! It is becoming a tradition!
A wonderful weekend with my sister! We can't wait until next year. Dee Dee (my other sister) will join us and we will laugh and tell stories and have a blast! What color will the shirts be next year?
