Pure Joy, Lucy is One Year Old

Today Lucy turned 1 year old. Party time! Cake, ice cream, and family. I decided to arrive at the party early so I could have some time with Lucy and Layne!Layne wanted me to play outside with her! OK!
Introducing the newest member of the family...Roy! Sweet puppy! I am not sure how many times Kristin said he would NOT be in her house. Roy ran in and out of the house all night. :-)
I still love to swing even at 56 years old. Fortunately, I teach elementary school and I can swing during recess with the kids. Layne loves it too!

The birthday girl, Lucy, had a bit of a fever today. Poor thing! She rallied when everyone got to the party!

Precious little girls!

Nothing better than being with the grandkids! Do I look happy?
The rest of the family arrived and Layne got some lip gloss with glitter in it. You can see the lovely glitter if you look very closely! You might have to click on the picture and make it bigger. She carried that lip gloss in a bag the rest of the night.
Cousins!
Now this is the way to have a birthday party. It was so joyful with all the kids running, laughing, and playing with each other. Heaven! I just watched and took it all in and smiled.

Notice the white bag with lip gloss in it that Layne is carrying even while she is running and playing!

Present time!
Layne was the official present helper!
Then some more present helpers appeared!
Lucy was kind of getting the hang of this present thing after opening a few!
The dinosaur bank was from Grandma Jackie and Grandpa Mike!

Aunt Keri and family sent the stool!

A present for Lucy from her big sister Layne!

Cake and ice cream next!

Yum yum! Good stuff!

More fun with the new toys!

Layne watched the festivities!
I thought time passed quickly once I had my own children. I think it is flying by even more quickly now. These precious little grandkids are growing so fast.
Happy Birthday Lucy! You are one of God's precious children and He has a plan for you! Can't wait to watch it unfold.

Koman Race for the Cure

Today was the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure Run/Walk. As usual we had runners and walkers in our group. Here we are ready to go! Lost and found and ready to roll!
A beautiful spring day in Spokane! There were booths with goodies to have and some booths were selling things before the race.
Everyone was feeling pretty festive. There were a lot of costumes. Even strollers were decorated.
Cheryl and Deanna!
And Terri and Sheila!
Pretty sure this was a plan your race strategy conversation. Actually Deanna was the only one that had a strategy. Or should I say she was the only one able to carry her strategy out. She wanted to beat last year's time. She did it too. 26 minutes and ??? seconds. Fast!
AHHHH! Beautiful!
Little Angels!

Here are the runners, Brenda and Deanna. Cheryl was missing from the runner picture because of a knee injury.
And the walkers!
There were a lot of people this year raising money for cancer research! Over 8,000 people.
Breast cancer survivors all had pink balloons.
Before the race started on cue they let go of their balloons.
It is pretty emotional to see all those balloons floating off to the heavens.

And away they go! This year it was even more emotional for me because my mom died from cancer.
This was the way to travel! The going was pretty slow because there were so many people trying to make their way down one street in downtown Spokane.
We saw some students a long the way!
I got separated from my team. Or should I say I stopped paying attention and I lost them. Sorry girls! We all managed to make it to the finish line. I did some creative walking trying to find the gang. Might have taken a little short cut! Might have!
More friends!
AHHH! Starbucks again.

Another fun day with the workout group! We need a name! For the walkers it was a little frustrating because we couldn't walk fast like we like to. It was for a great cause so we had to do some attitude adjusting and just enjoy the stroll. Always a good time when you have friends around you.
