May Motorcycle Ride

We knew we wanted to take a motorcycle ride today but Mike and I had differing ideas on where we should go. I know that surprises all of you! I wanted to go to Coeur d alene, Id. CDA is about 30-35 miles from our house if we go on the freeway. We never do go on the freeway on our motorcycles though. We go on the back roads on the bikes and that adds miles. Maybe 20 miles. Not sure really. Anyway, Mike was thinking Priest Lake. Some friends of ours were going to be up there and we could have lunch with them. As it turns out we didn't even leave until 12:30. Lunch was over so we decided to head to CDA. The back roads of course! Now, there are several ways to go and we decided to take the really, really, long way. Through Rockford, WA then up to St. Maries, ID. We weren't ready to even start in the direction of home at St. Maries so we went to Harrison, Idaho which is on Lake CDA. Then we rode the 28 twisty miles along the lake to the freeway! Still hadn't gotten to the city of CDA and we had about gone 140 miles! By this time it was almost 6 PM so we zipped down the freeway right though the city of CDA (never stopped there) to Spokane. I think we pulled in the garage about 7:25 ish! Great day and great ride.

This is a picture of Lake Heyburn. Right after I snapped these two pictures a huge bird took off out of one of the trees. Mike look at that huge bird!!!!!! At almost the exact same time we both said, "It is a bald eagle!" Awesome site!

Here is easy rider Mike! We were exploring on these narrow twisty roads on the backside of the lake!
And Jackie! Warm enough to break out the pink, mesh jacket!

Just like this picture! Our bikes looking lonely!
The road behind us! Look at all the beautiful trees. You know what you can't experience in a picture is the smell of the air in the spring. You can smell the trees and the sweet smell of flowers blooming!
I am still in the same spot just looking a different directions. Snow still decorates the mountains. What a picture!!!! I feel blessed to live in such beautiful country!
Now we are in St. Maries. The high school mascot greets you as you come into town. I had to turn and around and go back and get this picture. I just couldn't believe there was a giant lumberjack in front of the school. How could I have missed it the last time we rode through here.
We weren't the only ones in St. Maries riding motorcycles. Popular idea!
Harrison, Idaho! One of the first things we came to was an ice cream store. We decided it must be pretty good ice cream because there was a line out the door. This nice family was in line in front of us. This gentleman was asking Mike all about his bike. What had he done to it etc. Mike has a new saying now after talking to him. Motorcycles should be long, low, and loud! Why????? He never did ask about my shiny red motorcycle. I don't get it! Long, low and loud!!! Guy thing!
Almost to the front of the line. No ice cream for me though. A couple of bites of Mike's. He is a good sharer!
The line out the door!
This is the front of the ice cream shop. The CDA lake is right behind the store. The line got a lot longer than you see here! We got there just in time to miss the really long line!

Right around the corner was One Shot Charlies! An open air restaurant and bar. We had some dinner here! Good food!

After we left Charlie and gang behind we rode 28 miles to the 1-90 freeway! All twists and turns. It was such a fun road to ride. We went by the spot my mom and step-dad camped every summer back in the day. Keri, Kristin, Katie, and I would visit them and the girls would swim in the lake! Good times. The old red barn that was nearby is faded red now! It is still standing! The area brings back special memories!
We got to the freeway and blasted home. I think it was about 40-45 miles back to Spokane. We rode about 180 miles today and never made it to our destination. That is my kind of ride!

Idol Rewind!

I am pretty sure there isn't anything more fun than getting together with the girls. So much jabbering and sharing and laughing. There is just something special about hanging with the girls. Tonight was Idol Rewind at my house. We all watched the finale of American Idol and loved it. Before it was even over on Wednesday Cheryl and I decided we needed to watch it again, slowly!!! :-) So Friday night was Idol Rewind night! Of course blogging and pictures were part of the deal. Here are the two bloggers taking a picture of each other. Very professional don't you think Keri!!! Before we ate we visited a little! Or should I say I had to make hotel reservations for Katie in Richland that she needed tonight. She was on her way there and needed me to make reservations for her. I did that while my friends so kindly waited for me to get done! Deanna and Christine below!
Here is Sharon smiling for the camera.
And my good friend Cheryl! What a trooper! She couldn't move her neck but she came to watch the show! :-) The sacrifices we make!
Tacos and a beautiful sunny evening in Spokane. Life is good! I cooked amazing but true and Mike did a great job cleaning up the yard for the occasion!
Mike felt the need to get a picture of me biting in my taco!
More tacos and laughing. Laughing is the best part isn't it!!!
Now on with the show. I asked for a moment of silence for David Cook at one point. He is my favorite Idol for sure.
And Cheryl is the girl on this one with Kris and Keith! You know what I mean if you know the song! :-)

So does it look like we were having our own private concert? It felt like it!!!!
Here is the winner of American Idol. He won again tonight. Amazing! We applauded like it was a surprise! Kris Allen!
And here is the non winner Adam Lambert. He isn't a loser that is for sure. We were split on who should have won. Cheryl and I were right! :-) We can't help it!
Cheryl will probably have this picture on her blog. We had to rewind the TV about three times and finally we had to pause the TV for her to get a picture like this! Not exactly sure what got us taking pictures of the TV!
Listening to all the music tonight brought back memories for all of us. Lots of great performers. We shared our memories with each other. Songs can take you right back to a time gone by in your life. Rod Stewart reminded me of my summer days on the beaches in Southern California. Lionel Richie and romance. AHHH! Some of us saw Led Zeppelin in concert in our younger days and some saw Kiss and others the Brady Bunch! The Brady Bunch. I thought they were just a TV band. Never knew they toured in concert! I saw the Beatles. Wore a flowered pant suit. No pictures thankfully. We laughed and laughed! There were some other stories but I think the sister/sister confidentiality clause applies! Sorry! Thanks for a great evening ladies. You are the best!

Mother's Day, Motorcycle, Lucy and Layne

Mike and I hung around the house today. Mike ended up getting in a water fight with the boys next door. In my last post it was hide and seek but somehow water got involved! Fun! Early afternoon rolled around and I took off on my motorcycle to Kristin's house and Mike went to see his mom on his motorcycle. It is about 20 miles from my house to Kristin's. I like to take the back roads and I always seemed to get turned around. I don't have the best sense of direction. I made it there but probably went a few more miles than I needed to but that is OK with me! Kristin and Justin and the girls live in a beautiful place.
AHHH! What a nice backdrop for the shiny red motorcycle!
Layne is getting pretty good on her bicycle! I do believe that a new bigger bike is on the list for birthday number 4!

Lucy is growing fast and changing so much. We had the pictures out and in some pics she looks just like Layne. Others she looks a lot like Kristin! Time will tell. Can't wait to see what her precious little personality will be like!
There are a lot of pictures! I couldn't decide which ones to use for the blog so I used most of them!

Her serious side!
Two angels! Layne looks like she is up to something doesn't she!

Bath time for Lucy Jean! So far she loves the bath!

What a precious face!
Maybe they are singing! Like mother like daughter!
Kristin has her hands full. Lucy in one hand and a kiss from Layne landing soon!
Night night sweet little one. After a bath and being fed it was time to drift off to sleep!

Very happy Mother's Day! Wish all the girls were here but in a few weeks they will be. Yahoo!

We Have Been Waiting for This!

Spring is here and our neighborhood looks a bit different. I can hear birds, lawnmowers, dogs barking and the neighbor boys trying to engage Mike in a game of hide and seek with guns. If you get caught I guess you die! :-) Everyone once in a while I hear the lawnmower stop and I can hear Mike telling the boys to hide! Look at the contrast between these pictures! Wow!
It is a beautiful day today. Right around 70 degrees and sunny. Guess I better get on my motorcycle! Bye!
